Box MQ Plus 100W 21700/20700/18650 - SX Mini

The Box MQ Plus is the beefed-up version of the MQ series from SX Mini. Same philosophy as the MQ Class, a compact device you forget is in your pocket, but with a removable 21700 battery and 100 W of power instead of a built-in battery. It measures only 81.5 mm high and 42.4 mm wide, which remains very reasonable for a box in this category.

What makes SX Mini famous is the in-house YiHi chipset. Here, the SX418J runs everything: instant firing, stable power from the first to the last puff, temperature control from 100 to 300 °C, and VT Coil mode that detects the coil material to cut off before a dry hit. The SXi-EQ curve system also lets you draw your own power ramp-up, second by second, for those who like to fine-tune their vape.

In daily use, the 0.91-inch OLED screen displays the essentials with five brightness levels and screen rotation depending on which hand you use. Charging goes through a 2 A USB-C port, which also serves for firmware updates, and the 18650 adapter is included to reuse your existing batteries. The chassis combines stainless steel and aluminum, with contrasting top cap and base across the four available finishes.

Frequently asked questions

Which battery should I choose for the Box MQ Plus?
A 21700 from 4000 to 5000 mAh gives the best battery life and easily handles 100 W. The 20700 and 18650 also work, with the 18650 adapter included: expect shorter battery life then and opt for a high-discharge battery, at least 25 A.

Does the MQ Plus do temperature control?
Yes, from 100 to 300 °C, with YiHi's VT Coil mode that recognizes the coil material and cuts off before a dry hit. It is one of the few chipsets that manages temperature control really reliably on a single-battery device.

What size atomizer can I put on it?
Up to 28 mm in diameter without overhang on the top cap. Beyond that, the atomizer sticks out from the chassis.

What is the difference with the Box MQ Class?
The MQ Class is a 60 W device with a built-in battery, designed for mouth-to-lung vaping. The MQ Plus goes up to 100 W, accepts a removable 21700 battery and features the SX418J chipset: more battery life, more power and full temperature control.
