A box kit is a complete electronic cigarette made up of two compatible components: a box, which provides power and manages settings, and a clearomizer, which holds the e-liquid and coil. The manufacturer pairs these two elements to ensure they work properly. The kit often includes one or more coils and a cable, but e-liquid and removable batteries are not always included.

The word 'box' comes from the shape of the device, which is usually rectangular and larger than a pod or tubular battery. It is sometimes called a 'big battery' because this format often offers more battery life or power. However, a box does not only contain a battery: it also includes an electronic chipset, protections, buttons, and sometimes a screen for adjusting the vape.

A box mod is the part that powers the electronic cigarette: you need to add a compatible clearomizer. A box kit provides both the box and its clearomizer. A pod is generally more compact and works with a cartridge, with fewer settings and simpler maintenance. Pods prioritize lightness and simplicity, while box kits usually offer more battery life, settings, and upgrade possibilities.

A box with a built-in battery recharges directly with a cable and requires no battery handling. This is generally the simplest solution. A box with removable batteries works with one or more batteries, often in 18650 or 21700 format, which can be replaced when discharged. This solution is more flexible but requires respecting the insertion direction, the condition of the battery wraps, and the manufacturer's recommendations. Batteries are not always included.

mAh indicates battery capacity, while watts correspond to the power sent to the coil. There is no reliable equivalence like 'X mAh = X days', because battery life also depends on the coil, the power used, and the frequency of puffs. The higher the power, the faster the battery drains. Watts should always be set within the recommended range on the coil, not automatically at the box's maximum.

A box kit normally contains the box, the clearomizer, at least one coil, the necessary assembly parts, and often a charging cable. However, e-liquid is generally not included. Many boxes use a standard 510 connection, allowing you to replace the clearomizer. However, you need to check its diameter, the required power, and that it does not overhang the box. Coils are not universal: each clearomizer accepts one or more specific ranges. Check the kit or clearomizer page before buying new coils, and always respect the power range printed on each coil.

The choice of e-liquid depends mainly on the coil and the type of draw. An MTL or RDL kit at moderate power generally accepts smooth, balanced e-liquids, for example in 50/50 PG/VG. A more powerful DL sub-ohm kit is often better suited to liquids with higher VG content. The manufacturer's recommendations and the coil's rating should always come first to ensure proper e-liquid wicking.

Install a compatible coil, fill the tank, then wait a few minutes so the cotton is properly saturated. Start at the low end of the wattage range indicated on the coil, then increase gradually if needed. Clean the tank and contacts regularly. Replace the coil when flavors fade or when a burnt taste persists. For charging and battery handling, always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
