CRÉAVAPAn e-pipe is an electronic cigarette that has kept the shape of a pipe: a bowl turned from a solid block of wood, a stem that you hold in your mouth, and an atomizer screwed in where the tobacco would be. The gesture remains that of a pipe, minus the combustion. It is the format chosen by vapers who do not see themselves in a rectangular box or a plastic pod, and who prefer an object that gains patina rather than a device that gets replaced every year.
We have selected a single manufacturer for this collection: Créavap, a French workshop that has been turning its electronic pipes one by one for over ten years. Each body is carved, sanded and then oiled by hand from a block of walnut, rosewood, zebrano or wenge. Two pieces of the same model therefore never show exactly the same grain, and each one comes with its certificate of authenticity.
Mechanical e-pipe or regulated e-pipe: the real choice
Most e-pipes are what we call mechanical. There is no electronics inside: the battery voltage, 3.7 V, goes straight to the coil. The power therefore depends only on the ohms value mounted on the atomizer, and nothing cuts the circuit if you make a mistake. It is simple, silent, screen-free and practically indestructible, but it assumes you know how to calculate power and only use batteries in perfect condition, with intact wraps.
The Gandalf DNA 60 is the exception. It houses an Evolv DNA 60 board, the benchmark for high-end chipsets: adjustable power up to 60 W, temperature control, full protections and fine tuning via the EScribe software. This is the model to choose for a first e-pipe, or to vape every day without having to calculate anything.
The shapes available
- Bent 18350: the classic curve of the traditional pipe, 60 g without battery. The best entry point into the range.
- Billiard 18350: straight silhouette and short bowl, the most compact at 50 g.
- Gandalf 18350: the long stem of storybook pipes, in a lightweight version.
- Gandalf 18650: the iconic model, 8-inch Churchwarden stem, 304L stainless steel switch and numbered battery cap.
- Dublin 18650: the 89 mm Irish conical bowl, the most imposing piece in the collection.
- Gandalf SaRaiFo: limited series in stabilized material, five bold colors, only 72 g.
- Gandalf DNA 60: the only regulated one, up to 60 W and temperature control.
Choosing your battery: 18350 or 18650
The battery format decides both the size and the battery life. An 18350 keeps the pipe light and faithful to the original proportions, but requires more frequent recharging: count on half a day with regular use. An 18650 lasts the full day, even on a low resistance, at the cost of a taller and heavier body. Batteries are never included with the e-pipe, and that is the rule with all manufacturers: they travel poorly and are chosen according to use. For the short models, we offer the 18350 Hercules RS08 battery, 800 mAh and 8 A, with its limits printed on the cell. The 18650 cells and chargers are in the batteries and chargers collection.
Which atomizer to mount on an e-pipe?
The connector is a 510 adjustable with spring-loaded pin, the universal standard of vaping. It therefore accepts all clearomizers and rebuildable atomizers up to 22 mm in diameter. Beyond that, the atomizer visually overhangs the bowl and the whole thing loses its balance. In practice, a 22 mm MTL or RDL atomizer with a resistance between 0.5 and 1 ohm is perfectly suited to a mechanical e-pipe: the draw stays close to that of a pipe and battery consumption remains reasonable.
The stem changes everything
The stem is the part you hold in your mouth, and it is what gives the pipe its character. The eight Créavap models range from 40 to 175 mm, all in solid acrylic and with a standard 510 tenon, so they are interchangeable on any e-pipe from the brand. A 175 mm Churchwarden moves the vapor away from your face and lets it cool along its entire length, which noticeably softens the rendering. A 40 mm Saddle keeps the whole thing compact and delivers a warmer, denser vapor. Changing the stem is like changing the pipe without buying the wooden body again.
Caring for the wood
The wood is oiled, not varnished: it breathes. Wipe the bowl with a dry cloth after each refill to prevent an overflow of e-liquid from seeping in, and apply a drop of linseed oil or wood oil every few months if the finish becomes dull. Never immerse the body in water and do not leave it near a heat source. Placed on a stand, the atomizer stays facing up, which prevents leaks into the bowl and marks on the stem. An e-pipe cared for this way gets passed down; that is also the logic of Créavap, which sells its spare parts individually.
Why choose a French artisanal e-pipe
Unlike industrial e-pipes in molded resin, each Créavap is a unique, repairable piece, with 304L stainless steel metal components and an inner Delrin sleeve that protects the wood from e-liquid. The warranty is one year and wear parts remain available well beyond that. It is a purchase that is closer to buying a briar pipe than an electronic device.
Also worth exploring
If the pipe shape does not convince you, take a look at box mods, kits and pods or vape accessories. The manufacturer's entire range is gathered in the Créavap collection, and the wireless charging station completes the setup on a desk.

Frequently asked questions · E-Pipe
8 QUESTIONS
/01
What exactly is an e-pipe?
An e-pipe is an electronic cigarette shaped like a pipe. The solid wood body holds the battery, the stem serves as the mouthpiece, and an atomizer screws onto the 510 connector at the top of the bowl. There is no tobacco and no combustion: it is classic vaping, in an object that echoes the proportions and the gesture of a traditional pipe.
/02
Is a mechanical e-pipe dangerous?
Not if you know what you are doing. A mechanical e-pipe has no protective electronics: the battery voltage goes straight to the coil. So you need to know Ohm's law, only build coils suited to the maximum current the battery can handle, and only use cells whose wrap is intact. If that sounds like too much hassle, go for the Gandalf DNA 60, which is regulated and protected.
/03
Which atomizer should I put on an e-pipe?
Any atomizer with a 510 thread up to 22 mm in diameter. Beyond that, it overhangs the bowl. A 22 mm MTL or RDL clearomizer with a coil between 0.5 and 1 ohm is the most consistent setup on a mechanical e-pipe. 22 mm rebuildable atomizers work well too.
/04
Should I choose an 18350 or an 18650 battery?
The 18350 keeps the pipe light and true to the original proportions, but lasts about half a day: the Hercules RS08 battery is the one we offer in this format. The 18650 gives you a full day, even on a low-resistance build, in exchange for a taller and heavier body. The Bent, Billiard and Gandalf 18350 models use the first format, while the Dublin, Gandalf 18650, SaRaiFo and DNA 60 use the second.
/05
Are the atomizer, battery and stand included?
No. An e-pipe comes with its stem and its certificate of authenticity, nothing else. The atomizer, battery and stand are chosen separately, and the visuals showing them are for illustration only. That is the rule with all makers of handcrafted e-pipes.
/06
Can you change the stem of an e-pipe?
Yes, and that is the whole point of the range. Créavap stems fit a standard 510 tenon and are therefore interchangeable across all the brand's e-pipes. Eight lengths are available, from 40 to 175 mm. The longer the stem, the cooler the vapor arrives in your mouth.
/07
How do you care for the wood of an e-pipe?
The wood is oiled, not varnished. Wipe the bowl with a dry cloth after each refill, apply a drop of wood oil every few months if the finish starts looking dull, and never soak the body in water. Resting the pipe on a stand, atomizer facing up, prevents leaks into the bowl and marks on the stem.
/08
Which e-pipe should you choose to get started?
If you are comfortable with mechanical mods, the Bent 18350 is the best entry point: classic shape, lightweight format and the most accessible price in the range. If you would rather not have to calculate anything, the regulated Gandalf DNA 60 is the safe choice, with adjustable power and built-in protections.
