The capacity expressed in mAh tells you about the potential battery life, while the continuous discharge current indicates the load the cell can handle within the limits stated by its manufacturer.

• 21700: a larger cell often chosen for its battery life or performance.
• 18350 and other formats: more specific uses, to be checked carefully against your device.

Which battery charger should you choose?

A single slot charger is lightweight and handy on the go. Two slots suit most users and make it easy to manage a pair. Four slots become interesting when several devices or battery sets are in use. Models with an LCD screen display more information, while LED versions keep things simple.

The speed depends on the available current and the number of occupied slots. A maximum value stated for one slot is not necessarily available on all slots at the same time. Also check whether the cable, mains adapter or fast power supply are included. A USB-C port describes the connector, but does not by itself guarantee compatibility with all fast charging protocols.

Using and carrying your batteries safely

Always inspect the insulating wrap before use. A torn wrapper, a displaced top insulator, a mark from an impact or overheating means you must stop using the cell before checking or replacing it. Never carry a loose battery in a pocket, bag or box containing metal objects. Use an insulating case and avoid any contact between the poles and keys or coins.

Insert the batteries the right way round, on a stable and non-flammable surface. Do not leave a charge unattended for long periods and remove the cells once the cycle is complete. If a pair is intended for a dual battery box, keep them together throughout their lifespan.
